Annie was in custody for violent behaviour, which was associated with alcohol and substance misuse. She gave birth while in custody. The baby was taken into kinship care by the boyfriend’s family, as there were child protection concerns.
Annie was liberated into temporary accommodation nearby her son, and with the help of Shine has managed to re-establish contact.
She has successfully handled supervised contact and has moved onto having overnights with her son twice a week. Annie’s aim in the next few months is to gain full custody of her son.
Annie’s Shine mentor referred her to the World Wide Volunteering Service where she has now started volunteering in a charity shop three days a week. Annie has also secured employment at a shop, where she is working 16 hours a week.
